On Teaching Others

on teaching others This is a statement of personal values and philosophy that influence my teaching practice. I wrote it as an exercise in during my masters studies at Athabasca University. What distinguishes professionals from others who teach is identifying the set of values that drive what we do and why we do it.

I first wrote this series of statements as graduate student in 1999 as a way to articulate my values, motivations and strategies. I revisit it every now and then to see if it still rings true, and rewrote it in September 2005 as a learning manifesto.
